Summer Festivals, Carnivals, Cookouts And Food Comas

As we all know, Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start of the summer season. It’s the beginning of summer festivals throughout the country. Can’t you just see, smell, and almost taste all those carnival treats? The cloudlike swirls of cotton candy, the sweet smell of nuts roasted and covered in sugar, thick doughy pretzels, ice cream and more! Can you remember how you felt the last time you indulged in those tempting taste sensations? Think about it. Did you end up calling your doctor because you felt like you were having a heart attack? Or maybe you had to take some bubble-gum pink digestive aid. Chances are you probably didn’t feel like going for a swim, a hike, or a vigorous bike ride. In fact, maybe you’ve been enjoying your lifestyle so much that you don’t even consider putting on a bathing suit anymore. Chances are these days you just home for a nap before the next feeding, which is not likely to be a fresh, crisp salad.

My whole point is that summertime brings with it a whole new set of temptations that to some people seem irresistible. People eat themselves into food comas and don’t understand why they feel so bad. This sends them running straight into the arms of the many doctors and medical professionals that are going to prescribe another pill or even possibly suggest a surgery. The mainstream medical professionals rarely tell you what not to eat. Oh, they might say you should lose a few pounds, but that’s about as far as they typically go.

We must eat and as a nation we have access to extraordinary abundance. Each season has its own special “food”, and each season finds so many people feeling worse and worse.

With all the sugar and flour and processed foods being hawked at summer events, it’s no wonder so many Americans are sick. Most people who eat processed foods on a regular basis very often have what I call The Yeast Syndrome that gives rise to all kinds of ailments that the medical industry doesn’t consider. Sure, doctors might caution you about the prospect of diabetes or what is now considered “pre-diabetic syndrome” (“metabolic syndrome” or “cardiometabolic syndrome’). But yeast? No, no thought of the complications that might be developing!

Nourishing Food Makes You Feel Good

Real food improves energy, reduces pain and inflammation in the body and is actually the most powerful “medicine” on the planet. But you have to know what real food is, buy it, take it home, prepare it, and sit down to enjoy it.

If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired and are ready to commit to nourishing your body instead of consuming things that make you sick, give my office a call. I have been helping people turn their lives around by getting to the root of their health issues. And so many issues are a direct effect of diet. As the former Surgeon General of the United States, C. Everett Koop said, “You can’t medicate your way out of a condition you ate yourself into.” I will keep sharing this statement as often as I can. It sums up how out of alignment the mainstream medical industry is with what constitutes “health care.” Today’s “medical care” is an after-the-fact response to the worsening conditions we have ourselves created. It’s time to care for your health and health care in a different way. It’s time to feel better and perhaps even feel great again
